Replacing the wheels on your hand truck is a straightforward process that requires only a pair or two of pliers. Follow these steps:
-
Remove the Cotter Pin: The wheel assembly is secured to the axle with a straight cotter pin. Use needle-nose pliers to unbend the cotter pin and pull it through the hole in the axle rod.
-
Remove the Old Wheel: Once the cotter pin is removed, lift the old wheel off the axle.
-
Install the New Wheel: Place the new wheel onto the axle.
-
Reinsert the Cotter Pin: Reinsert the cotter pin through the hole in the axle rod and bend it back around the curve of the axle to secure the wheel in place.
Note: Replacement wheels do not include new cotter pins, so you will need to reuse the existing one or purchase replacements from a local hardware store.
